GIS Mapping

October 4, 2018

DGR developed an electric GIS mapping system for the City of Madison, South Dakota. The project entailed obtaining high resolution, geo-referenced aerial imagery to serve as a base background to the system.

With the help of City personnel all existing primary distribution lines were identified and located and all existing overhead distribution poles and streetlights were given GPS locations.

Conductors were colored/dashed depending upon phase and number of phases. Conductor sizes and correlating circuits were input into the line sections features.

Meters, transformers, and switches were included along with detailed information such as switch style, meter number, transformer size, and age.
