“Circuit 13” Underground Power Line
Sioux Falls, SD, experienced rapid growth, driving the need for an expanded Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) and upgraded electrical infrastructure. To meet this demand, the city launched the $4.6 million Circuit 13 project, designed by DGR Engineering. This six-mile long underground power line project connects the WRF and other critical facilities to the power grid, with built-in backup power for reliability.
DGR Engineering played a key role, handling the design and coordination of the project. They navigated complex permitting, worked with various stakeholders, and addressed challenges like crossing the Big Sioux River diversion channel, which required approval from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. DGR also managed the coordination of ongoing construction projects, equipment delays, and other logistical hurdles.
The project, which began in 2023, was completed in 2024, ensuring reliable power for Sioux Falls’ growing northeastern area.
